Intel i7 7700K is fast, reliable. And a solid CPU for gaming. The AAA games, as well as MMO games, also won’t bottleneck with this processor. Even though it is expensive, it well worth it (If you have overclocking in mind). Upon seeing its performance, you will know what you have gotten into your hands. It also offers a great and satisfying overclocking performance. Hyperthreading performance is another best feature of i7 7700K. However, the main problem is the high temperature. It runs really hot and it will worsen during overclocking. Make sure to have liquid cooling for the best performance of this processor. The performance of this processor is overall great if you get a liquid cooler.

The Intel i7 7700K is fast in work and you will experience a smoother and lag-free gaming session from this. Apart from gaming, it also has great speed in other tasks. Moreover, the installation process is easy out of the box.

Key Features: The Intel i7-7700K has 4/8 cores/threads, 91W of total TDP, and Intel HD Graphics 630 as the integrated graphics. It comes with 14nm lithography, 8 GT/s Bus speed, and 8MB of Cache. The base frequency is 4.20 GHz and the Max Turbo Frequency is 4.50 GHz. It has 2 x DDR4 memory channels supporting 64GB memory. Also, it has 16 x PCIe 3.0 (x16, x8) lanes.

Downsides: The temperatures are high under load and overclocking. It does not come with a cooler.

Pros
  • Awesome for gaming
  • Preferred all-core base and boost speed
  • Great general gaming performance
Cons
  • Expensive
  • Old manufacturing process for thermals
  • Moderately old

Final Thoughts

Intel i7-7700K is a fast and good CPU even though the price is high. With a good aftermarket cooler, you can get the best of this processor.

AMD FX 4350

AMD FX 4350

This AMD processor is good worth the price. Even though AMD FX 4350 can not handle heavy gaming, it is still one of the best for Arma 3. Because Arma 3 needs a straightforward system for better performance and this processor as well as other AMD alternatives has that criteria. Apart from just playing Arma 3, it also does great in other computer tasks. The stock cooler is pretty awesome for the price. However, it consumes more power than expected at 125W. Getting a good aftermarket cooler will be able to subdue the heat.

The CPU is a mini beast. You will make a wonderful and powerful system if you pair this with the best and compatible components (like motherboard, GPU, RAM, etc.). Moreover, it offers a little bit of good overclocking performance as it is unlocked.

Key Features: AMD FX-4350 features with 4/4 core/threads, and a total TDP of 125W. It has up to 4.30GHz max Turbo Frequency and a base frequency of 4.20GHz. It has DDR3 type memory channels of which the bandwidth is 1866 MHz. The lithography is 32nm manufacture, and the cache is a total of 12MB (Total L2 Cache- 4MB, Total L3 Cache- 8MB).

Downsides: The power consumption is more than average, and weak performance in general gaming.

Pros
  • Great base clock speed
  • Nice performance
  • Great value
  • Unlocked multiplier
Cons
  • High power consumption

Final Thoughts

Apart from some drawbacks, AMD FX 4350 is a great catch with this price.

Intel Core i5 2300

Intel Core i5 2300

Intel Core i5 2300 is one of the best CPUs for playing Arma 3. It is a great budget processor which performed well. For a budget processor, this one just does the job. The price is not that reasonable. It can slightly overclock and offers quite a good performance. Also, it can run all the modern games at 60 FPS without lagging. It is, indeed, the best one for games like Arma 3.

One of the best features is, this one comes with a heatsink and a fan without any additional cost. The heatsink makes the system cooler and the fan also does not make any noise. It has integrated graphics and you may not need additional video cards from playing MMO and older games. However, it would be better to suit yourself with a decent video card.

The Core i5 2300 looks pretty good, works well without any issues. It is also fast and quiet.

Key Features: The Intel Core i5 2300 comes with 4/4 cores/threads, Intel HD Graphics 2000, 95W of TDP. The Base Frequency is 2.80 GHz and the Max Turbo Frequency is 3.10 GHz. The lithography is 32nm manufacture, and the cache is a total of 6MB. Also, the Bus speed is 5 GT/s. It has 2 x DDR3 memory channels that support 32GB of max memory and 21 Gb/s of max memory bandwidth. Moreover, it has a maximum of 16 x PCIe 2.0 lanes.

Downsides: The CPU is relatively old and the general gaming performance is weak.

Pros
  • Includes a heatsink without additional cost
Cons
  • General Gaming performance is weak
  • Not reasonable
  • Average boost clock speed single-thread tasks

Final Thoughts

The CPU is pretty old if you consider other CPUs in the market. However, it handles the gaming performance well which we need the most.

AMD Phenom II X4 940

AMD Phenom II X4 940

AMD Phenom II X4 940 is one of those motherboards which are getting hard to find. That’s why it does not have many reviews to research for. This processor is fast and unlocked that comes at a relatively cheap price. The price is low compared to those of Intel. As always, AMD processors are mostly unlocked multiplier. This one is not different which is why it is easy to overclock.

Flash BIOS is considered the best feature but here you may face some issues which are not for everyone. If your BIOS does not recognize the processor by its name/type, check if your BIOS is the latest or not. Your motherboard has to be an am2 motherboard that has a BIOS update. And if it recognizes, then you will get a fast and reliable CPU for a long time.

The gaming performance is satisfying as well as the overclocking performance. This CPU can also be used for your music or video edit, photoshop, etc. This is a great processor if you consider the overall things.

Key Features: The AMD Phenom II X4 940 comes with 4/4 cores/threads, and 125W of TDP. The Clock speed is 3.0 GHz and has 8MB Cache Memory (L2 – 4 x 512 KB, L3 – 6 MB). The socket is AM2+.

  • Fast and reliable
  • Cheap compared to Intels’
  • Good overclocking potential
  • Unlocked multiplier
Cons
  • Not high overclocking under normal condition cooling
  • Consumes huge power

Final Thoughts

The AMD Phenom II X4 940 is one of the most highly recommended CPUs for Arma 3. It does the job well and keeps pretty good feedback.

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400

The Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 is not possible the best CPU for Arma 3. To get a good performance in this game, pairing it with the EVGA GTX 465 would be the best option. Except gaming, E8400 offers surprisingly get performance in all other tasks. Since it is not unlocked, overclocking is a limited option. Still, it does have a good overclocking ability with a limited clock speed which is better than its predecessors. To use it better, you will have to get a good heatsink for cooling the system. The overall performance of this CPU is awesome despite having only two cores. The price to performance ratio is also excellent.

This CPU may not look like it but has great potential. You will understand if you choose this to buy. However, it has become relatively an old one, so buying this CPU is getting harder day by day.

Key Features: The Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 comes with 2/2 cores/threads, and 65W of total TDP. It comes with 45nm lithography, 1333 MHz of Bus speed, and 6MB of L2 Cache. The base frequency is 3.0 GHz.

Downsides: This one has quite weak performance in gaming and overclocking. The stock heatsink may not be enough for cooling.

Pros
  • Awesome Price to Performance Ratio
  • Good Overclock Potential
  • Runs quite Cool
Cons
  • Stock Intel Heatsink Can be Very Noisy at times
  • Availability

Final Thoughts

The Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 offers good performance in almost everything. However, it still is not the best one in line for Arma 3.
